Damaging winds possible for southeast of the state today.
Weather Situation: A deep and intense low pressure system is
moving east along the southern coast this morning. The system
brought a significant burst of damaging to destructive winds to
western and southern parts of the South West Land Division on
Sunday night. As the low moves east today, the risk of damaging
winds has shifted towards southeastern WA, and is expected to ease
overnight tonight.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS to 90 km/h are possible over southern and
southeastern parts of the state today. Winds are expected to ease
below warning thresholds this evening.
A separate warning for ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES is also current for
parts of the coast. For more details, refer to

Locations which may be affected include Esperance, Eucla, Eyre,
Forrest, Israelite Bay and Cocklebiddy.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Goldfields, South
Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt districts and the
warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
A broad area of sustained winds greater than 63 km/h were
observed, and multiple wind gusts of greater than 100 km/h were
recorded across the south and southwest of the state on Sunday,
including locations such as Mandurah, Ravensthorpe, Jandakot, Mount
Barker, Bussleton Jetty, and the SW Capes.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm
water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from
windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones
if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power
lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and
waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should
always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance
company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly
damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
