Details of Tropical Low 29U at 11:00 am AWST:
Intensity: Tropical Low, sustained winds near the centre of 65
kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 95 kilometres per
hour.
Location: within 55 kilometres of 11.3 degrees South 127.4 degrees
East, estimated to be 340 kilometres north northeast of Kalumburu
and 400 kilometres west northwest of Darwin.
Movement: southwest at 15 kilometres per hour.
Tropical Low 29U is located to the north northeast of Kalumburu
and is moving southwest. It is expected to develop into a tropical
cyclone later today.
29U will continue moving southwest across the Timor Sea during the
weekend. It is expected to pass to the north of the Kimberley coast
during Sunday before taking a more westward track away from the
Kimberley coast on Monday. Increased wind and wave impacts are
possible along the north and northwest Kimberley coast from later
today and overnight tonight.
Hazards:
Gales with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS could develop between coastal
locations between King George River Mouth and Mitchell Plateau
Saturday night or early Sunday morning, and west to Kuri Bay later
Sunday morning, if the track shifts further south, closer to the
Kimberley coast.
Gales with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS could develop along coastal
locations between Kuri Bay and Cockatoo Island later Sunday, only
if the track shifts further southwards, closer to the Kimberley
coast
HEAVY RAINFALL may develop along the coastal areas between King
George River Mouth and Kuri Bay, tonight or on Sunday, as 29U moves
past the Kimberley coast on Sunday morning.
As the system moves past, tides between King George River Mouth
and Kuri Bay may rise above the normal high tide mark, but the sea
level should not exceed the highest tide of the year.
