MINOR TO ISOLATED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE FLOOD WATCH
AREA FROM TUESDAY NIGHT
A vigorous complex low pressure system is deepening offshore of
the Hunter Coast and will move towards Illawarra Coast Tuesday
before turning and moving into the Tasman Sea during the day on
Wednesday. This low is expected to bring widespread moderate to
heavy rainfall across the flood watch area and may cause minor to
moderate flooding in several catchments from Tuesday night.
Catchments in the Flood Watch area are relatively wet following
recent rainfall.
A severe weather warning is current for Heavy rainfall, which may
lead to flash flooding is developing in the Illawarra south of the
Wollongong later today, extending southwards to reach Bega in the
South Coast by evening.
This weather system has the potential to cause minor to isolated
moderate flooding in the Flood Watch area from Tuesday night. Flood
Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments
where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.
