FLOODING POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES ILLAWARRA COAST
AND SOUTH COAST RIVERS FROM WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY
A broad low pressure system is expected to bring widespread
rainfall across parts of the NSW coast south of Sydney, with severe
thunderstorms and locally heavy falls until Thursday. This rainfall
may cause flooding along rivers in Illawarra Coast and South
Coastal Rivers.
Catchments are currently dry to relatively wet about parts of the
South Coast.
The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the
catchments listed from Wednesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate,
major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a
flood warning service.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Illawarra Coast
St Georges Basin
minor flooding
Clyde River
Tuross River
Bega River
minor to major flooding
Snowy River
minor flooding
Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers
minor flooding (for the Mitta Mitta Rivers)
A minor flood Warning is current for the Paroo River, Moruya and
Deua Rivers and Queanbeyan River

Flood Safety Advice:
This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers
and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings
and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding
develop.
Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to
be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau
of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy
rain is forecast or observed.
