FLOODING POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES ILLAWARRA COAST, SOUTH COAST RIVERS, INLAND CENTRAL WEST RIVERS AND SOUTH WEST RIVERS FROM WEDNESDAY

A broad low pressure system is expected to bring widespread rainfall across parts of the NSW coast south of Sydney and inland Central West, with severe thunderstorms and locally heavy falls for the next few days. This rainfall may cause flooding along rivers in parts of the New South Wales Illawarra Coast, South Coastal Rivers, and parts of the Inland Central West Rivers and South West Rivers.

Catchments are currently dry to relatively wet about parts of the Central West, South West and South Coast.

The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the catchments listed from Wednesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

St Georges Basin minor flooding
Clyde River
Moruya and Deua Rivers minor flooding
Tuross River
Bega River minor to moderate flooding
Peel River minor flooding
Namoi River minor flooding
Castlereagh River minor flooding
Macquarie River to Bathurst minor flooding
Orange, Molong and Bell River minor flooding
Turon and Macquarie Rivers to Burrendong Dam
Macquarie River d/s Burrendong Dam minor flooding
Bogan River minor flooding
Tumut Riverminor flooding
Upper Murrumbidgee River to Burrinjuck Dam and Cooma Ck minor flooding
Murrumbidgee River to Wagga Wagga minor flooding
Mirrool Creek minor flooding
Queanbeyan and Molonglo Rivers minor flooding
Snowy River minor flooding
Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers minor flooding (for the Mitta Mitta Rivers)

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
