FLOODING POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES SOUTH COAST RIVERS, INLAND CENTRAL WEST RIVERS AND SOUTH WEST RIVERS FROM WEDNESDAY

A broad trough is expected to bring widespread rainfall across NSW, with severe thunderstorms and locally heavy falls for the next few days. This rainfall may cause flooding along rivers in parts of the New South Wales South Coast Rivers, Inland Central West Rivers and South West Rivers.

Catchments are currently dry to relatively wet about parts of the Central West, South West and South Coast.

The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the catchments listed from Wednesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Moruya and Deua Riversminor flooding

Castlereagh Riverminor flooding
Macquarie River to Bathurstminor flooding
Orange, Molong and Bell Riverminor flooding
Turon and Macquarie Rivers to Burrendong Dam
Macquarie River d/s Burrendong Damminor flooding
Bogan Riverminor flooding
Tumut Riverminor flooding
Upper Murrumbidgee River to Burrinjuck Dam and Cooma Ckminor flooding
Murrumbidgee River to Wagga Waggaminor flooding
Mirrool Creekminor flooding
Queanbeyan and Molonglo Riversminor flooding

A minor flood Warning is current for the Paroo River.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
