FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE BARKLY AND CARPENTARIA CATCHMENTS OVER THE COMING DAYS

A monsoon trough with an embedded low extends across the Gregory, Carpentaria and Northern Barkly districts. Widespread showers and isolated heavy falls are expected to continue across the Flood Watch area, easing during Sunday as the system shifts east into Queensland.

Catchments are becoming wet following recent rainfall.

River and creek level rises, overland flow, and isolated flooding in low-lying areas are possible across many inland parts of the Flood Watch catchments. This is expected to affect many roads over the coming days. Check road conditions before travelling.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Towns River

Limmen Bight River

Rosie River

McArthur River (rainfall expected mainly in upper catchment)

Robinson River

Calvert River

Settlement Creek

Nicholson River

Georgina River and Eyre Creek (rainfall expected in northern parts of
catchment)

Barkly (rainfall expected in northern parts of
catchment)

Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchment(s): Waterhouse and Roper
