FLOODING IS POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF THE NICHOLSON, BARKLY, GEORGINA, HAY RIVER AND EYRE CREEK CATCHMENTS

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily is located over far northwest Queensland and expected to be slow-moving southwards around the Northern Territory/Queensland border during the weekend and then further away from the Northern Territory on Monday.

The most significant rainfall totals are expected to follow the movement of the low and may extend westwards from Queensland and into the Northern Territory.

Significant river and stream level rises are possible with heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area in the next few days.

Many roads, and possibly primary and secondary highways may be affected. Some communities and homesteads may become isolated. Check road conditions before travelling.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Nicholson River
Barkly
Simpson Desert
Georgina River and Eyre Creek
