Flood Watch Number: 9

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY ACROSS PARTS OF THE FLOOD WATCH AREA EARLY NEXT WEEK, WITH MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE LATER

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily will remain slow moving across parts of western Queensland for the next few days, bringing the risk of significant and widespread rain across parts of the Flood Watch area over the weekend and early next week.

Catchments within the Flood Watch area are relatively dry.

A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for parts of the Flood Watch area.

River level rises are likely across parts of the Flood Watch area early next week, with minor flooding likely. Higher levels and moderate to major flooding are possible from later in the week as floodwaters extend slowly through these large catchments.

Localised flooding, including flash flooding, is likely. Flooding is likely to result in disruption to transport routes and isolation of some communities.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Georgina River and Eyre Creek

The following catchments have been removed from the previous Flood Watch as Flood Warnings are now current: Thomson and Barcoo Rivers.
