Flood Watch Number: 11

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY ACROSS PARTS OF THE FLOOD WATCH AREA DURING THIS WEEK, WITH MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE LATER IN THE WEEK

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily will remain slow moving across parts of western Queensland for the next few days, bringing the risk of significant and widespread rain across parts of the Flood Watch area during this week. The low is likely to move Northwards from later Tuesday.

Catchments within the Flood Watch area were relatively dry, but are now starting to wet up with recent rainfall.

A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for parts of the Flood Watch area.

River level rises are occurring or likely to occur across parts of the Flood Watch area during this week, with minor flooding likely. Higher levels and moderate to major flooding is possible from later in the week as floodwaters extend slowly through these large catchments.

Localised flooding, including flash flooding, is likely. Flooding is likely to result in disruption to transport routes and isolation of some communities.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Settlement Creek
Nicholson River
Leichhardt River
Georgina River and Eyre Creek
