ISOLATED MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE INLAND AREAS OVER THE NEXT FEW
DAYS
WIDESPREAD MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN
AND GULF CATCHMENTS
A trough in western Queensland is drawing deep moisture inland,
this system is expected to move further east during Saturday
extending the risk of flooding to South East Queensland and parts
of the Capricornia and Wide Bay areas. Widespread showers and
storms with areas of heavy rainfall are expected to continue across
the Flood Watch area, which may result in minor to moderate
flooding, with isolated major flooding possible west of the Great
Divide.
The trough is likely to move towards the southeast bringing
moderate to heavy rainfall over the southeastern quarter of the
state later Friday into Saturday, shifting the flood risk area. The
trough will contract further east and weaken on Sunday.
Catchments within the Flood Watch area are wet. Minor to major
flood warnings are current for catchments across parts of the
Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Gulf Country, inland regions and the
southeast coast.
Localised river level rises, and flash flooding are likely within
the areas of heaviest rainfall. Localised flooding, isolation of
communities and disruption to transport routes are possible within
the Flood Watch area over the next few days.
A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for parts
of the Maranoa and Warrego Forecast Districts and Granite
Belt.

Moonie River
Balonne River
Wallam and Mungallala Creeks
The Big Warrambool River
Flood warnings are current for the following catchments: Bulloo,
Diamantina, Thomson, Barcoo, Cooper, Eyre Creek, Georgina,
Flinders, Cloncurry, Warrego, Paroo, Maranoa, Herbert, Ross, Bohle,
Haughton, Burdekin, Pioneer, Mary and Noosa.
