Flood Watch Number: 7

ISOLATED MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE INLAND AREAS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS

WIDESPREAD MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN AND GULF CATCHMENTS

A trough in western Queensland is drawing deep moisture inland, this system is expected to move further east during Saturday extending the risk of flooding to South East Queensland and parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay areas. Widespread showers and storms with areas of heavy rainfall are expected to continue across the Flood Watch area, which may result in minor to moderate flooding, with isolated major flooding possible west of the Great Divide.

The trough is likely to move towards the southeast bringing moderate to heavy rainfall over the southeastern quarter of the state later Friday into Saturday, shifting the flood risk area. The trough will contract further east and weaken on Sunday.

Catchments within the Flood Watch area are wet. Minor to major flood warnings are current for catchments across parts of the Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Gulf Country, inland regions and the southeast coast.

Localised river level rises, and flash flooding are likely within the areas of heaviest rainfall. Localised flooding, isolation of communities and disruption to transport routes are possible within the Flood Watch area over the next few days.
