Flood Watch Number: 2

MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY FROM TUESDAY NIGHT FOR PARTS OF THE NORTH TROPICAL COAST AND PARTS OF THE CENTRAL COAST

A weak ridge extends over eastern Queensland and will persist for the next several days, strengthening a little from Tuesday. A trough to the north of Australia will drift toward the Northern Territory coast and remain slow moving over the next few days. A weak tropical low low may form in the trough over the western Gulf over the next day or two. These systems will combine with the ridge along the east coast to enhance rainfall more broadly across northern and Far North Queensland.

Catchments across the Flood Watch area remain wet to saturated from recent rainfall.

Showers, storms, and areas of rain are forecast to continue over the next few days across parts of the North Tropical and Central Coast.

Minor to moderate flooding likely from Tuesday night across the Flood Watch area.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Murray River

Herbert River

Black River

Ross and Bohle Rivers

Haughton River

Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam

Don and Proserpine Rivers

Flood warnings are current for the following catchments: Mulgrave and Russell Rivers, Bohle River, Black and Bluewater Creeks, Herbert River, and Tully River.
