Flood Watch Number: 2

RIVER LEVEL RISES AND FLOODING OCCURRING, WITH FURTHER MINOR TO ISOLATED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE FLOOD WATCH AREA

A trough continues to linger in the south east during Saturday, where rainfall has caused river level rises and flooding in parts of central and south east Queensland. Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday into Sunday before the trough pushes offshore early next week.

Catchments are wet and rivers will respond relatively quickly to further rainfall.

Localised heavy falls with thunderstorm activity and more moderate widespread rainfall is forecast for south east coastal and southern inland catchments. Rainfall will continue to affect the Flood Watch area into Sunday before easing during Monday. There is significant uncertainty in the timing and location of the heaviest falls.

Localised river and creek level rises and flash flooding are likely within the areas of heaviest rainfall, with minor to isolated moderate riverine flooding possible in the Flood Watch area from Saturday afternoon.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Upper Brisbane River

Lower Brisbane River(Warrill, Lockyer, Laidley Creek only. Minor warning current for Bremer River. Flooding not expected in lower Brisbane downstream of Ipswich.)

Logan and Albert Rivers

Condamine Rivers

Weir River

Moonie River

Balonne River

Flood warnings are current for the following catchments: Bremer River, Mary River, Burrum River, Isis River, Gregory River, Elliott River, Boyne River, Barambah Creek, Stuart River and Barker Creek.
