Flood Watch Number: 8

WIDESPREAD MINOR TO MAJOR FLOODING WITH SIGNIFICANT LOCALISED FLOODING LIKELY DURING SUNDAY AND INTO MONDAY

Rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has the potential to cause major flooding along Queensland coastal rivers from Maryborough to the NSW Border, and across the Condamine and Border Rivers area.

Isolated flooding may develop from Sunday afternoon, with more widespread flooding likely from Sunday into Monday, continuing into the early this week.

Widespread heavy to locally intense rainfall may lead to dangerous and rapid river and creek rises. Rain is due to a strong and vigorous trough associated with the Ex-Tropical Cyclone. Heavy and locally intense rainfall is forecast during the remainder of Sunday and into Monday over South East Queensland and across the Condamine and Border Rivers area.

Catchments are wetting up or saturated across the Flood Watch area.

High tides and large waves are expected to increase the flooding risk and impacts in low lying coastal areas.

Rapid and dangerous river level rises and flash flooding are expected across many creeks, associated with the heaviest rainfall. Widespread minor to major riverine flooding is likely.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Mary River

Sunshine Coast Rivers and Creeks(Coochin Creek and other creek systems)

Pine and Caboolture Rivers

Condamine Rivers

Macintyre River(including Dumaresq River and Macintyre Brook)

Weir River
