Flood Watch for Southeast Queensland and adjacent inland
catchments
Issued at 12:06 pm EST on Sunday 12 January 2025
Flood Watch Number: 3
RIVER LEVEL RISES AND FLOODING OCCURRING, WITH FURTHER MINOR TO
ISOLATED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM
SUNDAY AFTERNOON
A trough continues to linger in the southeast during Sunday where
rainfall has caused river level rises and flooding in parts of
central and southeast Queensland. Further rainfall is forecast for
the remainder of Sunday before the trough pushes offshore early in
the week.
Catchments are wet and rivers will respond relatively quickly to
further rainfall.
Localised heavy falls with thunderstorm activity and more moderate
widespread rainfall is forecast for the southeast coastal and
southern inland catchments. Rainfall will continue to affect the
Flood Watch area during Sunday before easing during Monday. There
is significant uncertainty in the timing and location of the
heaviest falls.
Localised river and creek level rises and flash flooding is likely
within the areas of heaviest rainfall, with minor to isolated
moderate riverine flooding possible in the Flood Watch area from
Sunday afternoon.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Noosa River
Sunshine Coast Rivers and Creeks
Pine and Caboolture Rivers
