Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall continue into the morning over the Townsville coast and inland parts.

Weather Situation: A very moist and unstable airmass supported by an approaching upper trough is producing scattered showers and isolated severe thunderstorms over the Herbert and Lower Burdekin coast and inland parts including the NSW border. Storms are generally slow moving and may continue throughout the morning.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays and Central Highlands and Coalfields districts. Locations which may be affected include Charters Towers, Bowen, Townsville, Moranbah, Collinsville, Ayr, Giru, Alva Beach and Clare.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Dirranbandi and Mungindi.

47 mm over 30 minutes (11:10 pm AEST), 91 mm over 3 hours (1:30 am AEST), and 102 mm in 6 hours at Logan Creek (3:30 am AEST)

105 mm recorded over 2 hours (2:40 am AEST), 147mm over 3 hours (3 am AEST) and 161 mm over 6 hours at Haughton Bridge (3:45 am AEST)

75 mm recorded over 2 hours at Clermont Alpha Rd (8:49 pm AEST)

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
