Damaging winds possible about K'gari today.
Weather Situation: At 4 am AEST Sunday, Tropical Cyclone Alfred
(category 2) was located about 400 kilometres northeast of
Bundaberg. TC Alfred is producing a large area of gale force winds
on its southwestern flank, and there is a risk the system may
approach close enough to the coast to produce a period of gales and
damaging wind gusts about K'gari during Sunday.
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 65 km/h with peak gusts 90 km/h may
develop about K'gari today. The risk of damaging winds is dependent
on the path of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, and will remain until the
system begins to shift sufficiently away to the southeast. The risk
may persist into this afternoon.
A separate Coastal Hazard Warning is current for the Wide Bay and
Southeast Coast of Queensland.
A Tropical Cyclone Information Bulletin and Forecast Track Map is
current for Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Locations which may be affected include K'gari and Rainbow
Beach.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Capricornia district
and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger
asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes
out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be
identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are
dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has
passed.
