Damaging winds continue about the Main Range and Scenic Rim, easing Thursday morning.

Weather Situation: A vigorous west to southwesterly flow has developed about the Main Range and Scenic Rim in response to the rapid deepening of a low pressure system off the New South Wales coast.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are likely about the Main Range, Scenic Rim and adjacent eastwards slopes tonight and early Thursday.

Winds are likely to ease below warning thresholds during Thursday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Springbrook, Mount Tamborine and Crows Nest.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
