For people in Cherbourg and parts of Ipswich, Gympie, Logan, Somerset, Southern Downs, South Burnett, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:30 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Ipswich, Stanthorpe and the area northeast of Kingaroy.

These thunderstorms are slow moving.

They are forecast to affect southern Lake Wivenhoe, Wondai and Murgon by 7:00 pm and Lowood, Samford and the D'Aguilar Ranges by 7:30 pm.

Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.

Mt Stanley (near Kilcoy/Somerset Dam) recorded 55 mm in 1 hour to 4:13 pm

Gregor Creek (near Kilcoy/Somerset Dam) recorded 80 mm in 1 hour to 5:00 pm

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
