The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:20 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Wondai, Murgon and Wacol.

These thunderstorms are slow moving.

They are forecast to affect Enoggera Reservoir and Samford by 7:50 pm and Proston and Archerfield by 8:20 pm.

Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.
Significant rainfall observations:

Mt Stanley (near Kilcoy/Somerset Dam) recorded 55 mm in 1 hour to 4:13 pm
Gregor Creek (near Kilcoy/Somerset Dam) recorded 80 mm in 1 hour to 5:00 pm
Amiens Knob (W of Stanthorpe) recorded 35 mm in 30 minutes to 7:00 pm
Bellbird Park (near Redbank Plains in SE Coast) recorded 60 mm in 1 hour to 7:27 pm

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
