INTENSE RAINFALL AND DAMAGING WINDS WITH VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING LOGAN CITY.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:00 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding and damaging winds was detected near Beenleigh and Macleay Island. This thunderstorm is moving towards the west. It is forecast to affect Logan Central, Mount Cotton and Victoria Point by 2:30 pm and Greenbank, Woodridge and Sunnybank Hills by 3:00 pm.

A separate Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall, locally intense rainfall and damaging winds remains current over Southeast Coast and parts of Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts. Please refer to http://www.bom.gov.au/warnings/

139 mm was recorded at Carindale in the 6 hours to 1:23 pm.

139 mm was recorded at Mansfield in the 6 hours to 1:15 pm.

111 mm was recorded at Holland Park in the 3 hours to 11:21 am.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
