Damaging wind gusts expected over parts of Tasmania during Tuesday.

Weather Situation: A strong cold front will move southeastwards across Tasmania during the day on Tuesday. Following this feature, a deepening low pressure system over the eastern Great Australian Bight will pass just to the south of the Tasmania on Tuesday evening.

Northwesterly winds with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are possible, developing from late morning Tuesday through the afternoon over western, central and northeastern areas. These conditions should spread into the southeast of the state including Hobart on Tuesday evening, and then ease early Wednesday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Smithton, Oatlands, Swansea, Bicheno, Orford, Strahan, Queenstown, New Norfolk, Bothwell, Hobart, Geeveston and Dover.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio for further advice.
