Damaging wind gusts expected to develop during early Monday
morning.
Weather Situation: A strong westerly gradient develops over the
southern half of the state early on Monday morning, ahead of an
approaching weak cold front that will slide to the south of the
state later in the day.
Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of
around 100 km/h are likely to develop over parts of the Central
Plateau, Western, Upper Derwent Valley and South East districts in
the early hours of Monday morning. Elevated areas and exposed
coastal parts in the far south may see peak gusts reach in excess
of 110 km/h.
Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds by
mid-afternoon on Monday.
Locations which may be affected include Strathgordon, New Norfolk,
Tarraleah, Lake St Clair, Bushy Park, Geeveston, Dover and
Huonville.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play
equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to
TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when
driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further
advice.
