For people in parts of East Coast Forecast District.

Issued at 11:11 am Wednesday, 29 May 2024.

Damaging wind gusts to develop in the east during Thursday morning.

Weather Situation: A strengthening northwesterly flow is developing ahead of a cold front approaching the state.

Strong northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS around 100 km/h are likely to develop over parts of the East Coast district during early Thursday morning.

Winds will ease below warning thresholds by early Thursday afternoon.

On Friday morning, in the wake of the cold front, another vigorous northwesterly flow is expected to develop associated with a low-pressure system that will pass to the southeast of the state. This will likely see a Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS to be expanded to broader areas of the state.

Locations which may be affected include Swansea.
