Bushfire Emergency Warning - bound by Castledene Way, Da Vinci Drive, Ashley Road, Pinjar Road, Saponara Drive, Rhoeo Outlook, Vincent Road, Garden Park Drive, Belgrade Road, Franklin Road, Trichet Road Hawkins Road, Wirrega Road, Galah Road, Silver Road, Coogee Road, Tumbleweed Drive and Joondalup Drive in parts of BANKSIA GROVE, JANDABUP, MARIGINIUP, MELALEUCA, SINAGRA, TAPPING and WANNEROO in the CITY OF WANNEROO and CITY OF SWAN

Please note change under Extra Information section. It's too late to leave for people east of PINJAR ROAD. Shelter in place immediately. People must stay away from the warning area. It is not safe and puts additional pressure on emergency services personnel who are working in the area to keep the community safe.

Bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING for parts of BANKSIA GROVE, JANDABUP, MARIGINIUP, MELALEUCA, SINAGRA, TAPPING and WANNEROO in the CITY OF WANNEROO and CITY OF SWAN.

A bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING is in place for people bound by Castledene Way, Da Vinci Drive, Ashley Road, Pinjar Road, Saponara Drive, Rhoeo Outlook, Vincent Road, Garden Park Drive, Belgrade Road, Franklin Road, Trichet Road Hawkins Road, Wirrega Road, Galah Road, Silver Road, Coogee Road, Tumbleweed Drive and Joondalup Drive in parts of BANKSIA GROVE, JANDABUP, MARIGINIUP, MELALEUCA, SINAGRA, TAPPING and WANNEROO in the CITY OF WANNEROO and CITY OF SWAN.

You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes.
The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as the bushfire behaviour is escalating.
It's too late to leave for people east of PINJAR ROAD.
The fire started near the intersection of BOUNDARY RD and BUSTARD RD in MARIGINIUP.

WHAT TO DO

For people east of Pinjar Road:

It's too late to leave, leaving now will put your life in danger.
You need to shelter in your home in a room away from the fire front and make sure you can easily escape.
You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you well before the flames reach you.
Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
Choose a room with two exits and water such as a kitchen or laundry.
If your home catches on fire and the conditions inside become unbearable, you need to get out and go to an area that has already been burnt.
Protect yourself by wearing long sleeves and trousers, made from cotton or wool, and strong leather boots.

For people west of Pinjar Road:

If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place.
Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger.
Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home.
Go to a room in your home away from the fire front and make sure you can easily escape.
Choose a room with two exits and water such as a kitchen or laundry.
If you are not at home, it's too dangerous to return.

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for parts of BANKSIA GROVE, TAPPING, GNANGARA, JANDABUP, MARIGINIUP, MELALEUCA, SINAGRA and WANNEROO in the CITY OF SWAN and CITY OF WANNEROO

A bushfire WATCH AND ACT is in place for people north of Coogee Road to Neaves Road, east of Joondalup Drive and Da Vinci Drive to Waldburg Drive and north to Golf Links Road, and south of Edgar Griffiths Park, San Teodoro Park and Jandabup Nature Reserve to Gironde Road, Elliot Road and Wanneroo Road in parts of BANKSIA GROVE, TAPPING, GNANGARA, JANDABUP, MARIGINIUP, MELALEUCA, SINAGRA and WANNEROO in the CITY OF SWAN and CITY OF WANNEROO.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and the conditions are changing.

WHAT TO DO

If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
If you plan to stay and actively defend, do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. You need to have access to an independent water supply, and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.
Keep doors and windows closed and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.

Bushfire ADVICE for parts of WANNEROO, JOONDALUP, CARRAMAR and BANKSIA GROVE in the CITY OF WANNEROO

A bushfire ADVICE is in place for people west of Wanneroo Road, Pinjar Road and Waldburg Drive to the Yellagonga Regional Park and north of Golf Links Drive and Neaves Road to Koala Road in parts of WANNEROO, JOONDALUP, CARRAMAR and BANKSIA GROVE in the CITY OF WANNEROO.

There is no threat to lives or homes.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

WHAT TO DO

Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
Read through your bushfire survival plan.

If driving

Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR

The bushfire is moving fast in a south westerly direction.
It is not contained or controlled.

SAFER PLACE

If you are unable to stay with family or friends, the Department of Communities has set up an Evacuation Centre:

Gumblosson Community Centre at 17 Tapping Way, Quinns Rock.
Please take any essential items such as medications and identification to the evacuation centre.
Pets (except recognised assistance animals) are not allowed inside evacuation centres for health and safety reasons, so you should make alternative arrangements for them. If this is not possible, please still proceed to the evacuation centre with your pets and await further advice.

SAFEST ROUTE

It's too late to leave for people east of PINJAR ROAD. People west of Pinjar Road need to leave in a westerly direction if safe to do so.
ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS

Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.
A number of roads have been closed including:

Pinjar Road between Joondalup Drive and Caporn Street.
Caporn Street between Pinjar Road and Frankland Road.
The northern end of Frankland Road to Dundebar Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should activate their own animal welfare plan. During a bushfire take advice from Local Government Authorities to protect the lives of your animals while keeping yourself safe.

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING

Firefighters are on the scene, actively fighting the fire and working on containment lines.
120 Career Fire and Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services, Bush Fire Service, Parks and Wildlife Service firefighters are attending.

DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT

Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires. Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or redirected, hindering firefighting efforts.
EXTRA INFORMATION

The fire was reported at 01:09 PM on 22 November 2023.
Currently there has been 1,500 hectares burnt.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
DFES is managing the fire.
